Abstract
The main thermodynamic properties of a two-dimensional Lennard-Jones s ystem, the Helmholtz free energy and the pressure, are obtained by usi ng accurate analytical equations for the corresponding three-dimension al system. The thermodynamic shift from three- to two-dimensional prop erties is made by scaling the temperature and simultaneously adding an analytical expression to the three-dimensional Helmholtz free energy.
