We report the effect of 250 MeV Ag17+ ion irradiation on DyBa2Cu3O7-delta t
hin films prepared by pulse laser deposition technique with fluences 5x10(1
0), 1x10(11), 5x10(11) and 1x10(12) ions/cm(2). The SQUID measurements on i
rradiated films at 5, 35 and 77 K show that the film irradiated with a flue
nce of 1x10(11) ions/cm(2) shows a considerable improvement in critical cur
rent density, J(c), and pinning force density, F-p. The irreversibility fie
ld, H-irr, was estimated from the plot of normalized F-p vs the normalized
held. A significant reduction in H-irr after irradiation and a dip in the p
lot of H-irr, vs B-phi at a fluence of 5x10(10) ions/cm(2) were observed. (
