Thermoluminescence (TL) curves from Na+-implanted Al2O3 irradiated by Cs-13
7 gamma rays, from Al2O3 irradiated with Cs-137 gamma ray only and from Al2
O3 implanted with Na+ only were measured over the temperature range of 340-
620 K. The TL curve induced by Cs-137 gamma ray irradiation of Na+-implante
d Al2O3 has three peaks located at 452, 508 and 568 K and two shoulders at
407 and 415 K. The TL intensity of ion-implanted Al2O3 induced gamma ray is
greater than that of Al2O3 implanted with ion only and that of Al2O3 irrad
iated with gamma ray only. The TL intensity of ion-implanted Al2O3 increase
s with increasing ion dose and ion energy whereas the TL intensity of that
decreases with increasing ion mass. The TL intensity is found to have a ver
y close relation with the ion dose, the ion energy, and the ion species. (C
