Abstract
Multi disciplinary oceanological investigations of the Haakon Mosby mud vol cano were carried out on board of the R/V "Akademik Mstislav Keldysh" in su mmer 1998. Identification, description and sampling of all main structures of the volcano and investigation of the composition and distribution of bio ta were carried out from two "Mir" submersibles. The information about the composition of bottom sediments, pore waters, content and composition of hy drocarbons in bottom sediments and seawater was obtained during this expedi tion.
