Abstract
We give an explicit description of the similarity classes of affine ma ps from a finite dimensional vector space to itself. We show that two affine maps which are similar over an extension field are also similar over the ground field. An explicit description is given for the conju gacy classes of the split extension of the symmetric group by the stan dard permutation module. (C) Elsevier Science Inc., 1997.
