Abstract
A finite set A of N x N nilpotent commutative matrices that have one-d imensional joint kernel is considered. The theorem (due to Suprunenko and Tyshkevich) that the algebra A generated by A and the identity mat rix has dimension equal to N is proved. A canonical basis for A is giv en, and related structure constants are discussed. (C) Elsevier Scienc e Inc., 1997.
