Abstract
A new unambiguous and conceptually improved renormalization method is formu lated in nonrelativistic QED. Without introducing any artifical mass (or en ergy) counter-terms in the Hamiltonian, the terms stemming from the experim entally unobservable free-electron-vacuum-field interaction are directly id entified and completely removed from the corresponding equations of motion for the bound electron.
