Abstract
Simultaneous local acoustic shock wave velocity measurements show that the upstream velocity exceeds the downstream velocity inside a low pressure pos itive column nitrogen plasma in contrast to the opposite behavior in neutra l gas. The shock velocity increase is also dependent on the direction of th e applied electric field. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserve d.
