Abstract
The first recorded eurypterid from the Writhlington Geological Nature Reser ve is described and is referred to the Westphalian species Adelophthalmus i mhofi (Reuss). The palaeoecology of the animal is discussed and it is concl uded that it was a freshwater predator living in a river channel system.
