Chemometrics has become one of the most wide-spread and important tools in
the teaching of Analytical Chemistry over the last years. Chemometrics is u
seful for analysing large amounts of data and for making reasonable decisio
ns in cases of uncertainty. This tool should be used in close conjunction w
ith chemical knowledge of the task being studied. The aim of this paper is
to expose the basic idea that Chemometrics is a transversal subject as well
as to emphasise the role of teaching and learning Chemometrics within the
training analysis laboratories.
