The complexation processes occurring in the cobalt(III) hexacyanoferrate(II
)-gelatin-immobilized matrix systems contacting aqueous solutions of dithio
oxamide

and formaldehyde are investigated in an alkaline medium (pH > 10). Under th
ese specific conditions, the cited organic compounds function as ligsons in
the template synthesis, eventually yielding the CoL(OH)(H2O) (L = 2,8-dith
io-3,7-diaza-5-oxanonanedithioamide-1,9) chelate. A plausible scheme is sug
gested for the synthesis.
