Abstract
Complexes of manganese(II), cobalt(II) and iron(III) with N-[(benzoylamino) thioxomethyl] glycine, C6H5CNHCNHCH2COOH (HL), having the general formula MnL(OH). 0.5CH(3)OH, CoL(OH). 0.5CH(3)OH and Fe2L2(OH)(4). CH3OH have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, IR spectr a and thermal analyses. The results show that the coordination structures o f these complexes are different from each other. It was also found that the ligand and its complexes possess scavenger effects on O-2(-.) radicals. Th e cobalt(II) complex inhibits the lipid peroxidation of a homogenate of mou se liver, but the iron(III) complex accelerates the lipid peroxidation of t he homogenate of mouse liver.
