Abstract
The synthesis is described of the hitherto unknown 2,3-bis(2'-thienyl)napht halene (1). Photochemical cyclisation of 1 affords naphtho[2,3-g]thiopheno[ 3,2-e]benzo[b]thiopene (2), the parent compound of a new aromatic heterocyc lic series.
