Abstract
This paper deals with an occupancy problem regarding the probability that m (1) and m(2) boxes each contain exactly one ball from groups 1 and 2, respe ctively, resulting from distributing k(1) group 1 and k(2) group 2 balls in to n boxes. The solution to this problem is given by a set of recursive exp ressions. By virtue of these expressions, it is easy to obtain the numerica l values of the probability distribution by using a computer. (C) 1999 Else vier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
