Abstract
Spectrophotometric determination of zinc using the reaction with phenylfluo rone (PF) in the presence of cetylpyridinium chloride (CP) and Triton X-100 was elaborated. Optimum concentrations of PF, CP and Triton X-100, and pH ensuring maximum absorbance were defined. The effect of foreign ions was el ucidated. The maximum absorbance is observed at 573 nm with the molar absor ptivity 1.09x10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1). The Beer's law is obeyed for zinc conc entrations in the range 0.04-0.4 mu g ml(-1). The method has been applied f or determination of zinc in insulin.
