The coordination field perturbation energies of Tb3+ in single crystals of
trigonal dihedral (D-3) symmetry Na-3[Tb(C4H4O5)(3)] . 2NaClO(4) . 6H(2)O a
re calculated and the polarized luminescence spectra in the F-7(J)-->D-5(4)
(J=1 similar to 6) transition regions are assigned theoretically, The resul
ts of the double-sphere coordination point-charge field (DSCPCF) model are
in reasonably good agreement with the experimental observation and are supe
rior to that of the simple static coordination point charge field (PCF) mod
el.
