Abstract
A wideband wavelength converter is presented which is based on a cascaded s econd-order nonlinearity in periodically-poled LiNbO3 waveguides pumped at 1.5 mu m. The converter uses counter-propagating beams in order to improve conversion efficiency and pump rejection. An internal conversion efficiency of -10dB and a conversion bandwidth of 68nm have been obtained in a 4cm lo ng device.
