Change of the geometry of pyroelectric sensor elements from plane to cavity
shaped results in high sensitivity (due to higher absorbing ability) and f
lat spectral characteristics of PVDF-type foil sensors. Pyroelectric respon
se and sensitivity of hollow-pyramidal and wedge-shaped detectors made of P
VDF, P(VDF/TrFE) and P(VDF/TFE) homogenously polarized foil are compared wi
th those of plane detectors coated with absorbing layers made of PVDF, LiNb
O3, TGS and ferroelectric ceramics.
