Lasers are used by many specialties, such as ophthalmology, urology, orthop
edics, hand surgery, and otolaryngology, and the cost, therefore, is spread
over many cost centers. Their delivery systems (laser probes) are very sma
ll and perfectly suited for use in small joints. The combination of small s
ize and efficient tissue ablation has been sufficient to move the laser int
o the mainstream of small joint arthroscopy This article provides an overvi
ew of the use of lasers in wrist arthroscopy.
