Np. Goncharov, Genetics of growth habit (spring vs. winter) in tetraploid wheats: production and analysis of near-isogenic lines, HEREDITAS, 130(2), 1999, pp. 125-130
Variability in tetraploid wheat species for growth habit (spring vs, winter
) was studied in the field and. as a result, winter growth habit samples we
re identified. Backcrossing on the background of Triticum dicoccum cv. Blac
k Winter Emmer developed the: near-isogenic lines BS1E and BS2E carrying th
e dominant genes Vrn1 and Vrn2, respectively. The donors of the dominant ge
nes Vrn1 and Vrn2 were Pugsley's common what near-isogenic lines Triple Dir
k D and Triple Dirk B. respectively. The results demonstrated that T. dicoc
cum near-isogenic lines, with the dominant Vrn genes do not mature signific
antly later than the near-isogenic lines of common wheat.
