A new norditerpenoid alkaloid, delbruninol (1), has been isolated from the
aerial parts of Delphinium brunonianum Royle Its structure has been establi
shed on the basis of its spectroscopic data (IR, HRFABMS, H-1, C-13, H-1-H-
1 and H-1-C-13 COSY, ROESY, TOCSY, HMQC-TOCSY and HMBC NMR spectra). The kn
own alkaloids delcosine, browniine, blacknidine, delbrunine, 18-methoxygade
sine and nudicaulamine were also isolated and identified. The roots of D. b
runonianum Royle furnished the known alkaloids methyllycaconitine and lycoc
tonine.
