Cm. Khanda et Pk. Mishra, Effect of plant density and nitrogen fertilization on growth and yield of rice bean (Vigna umbellata), I J AGRON, 43(4), 1998, pp. 700-703
An experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) season of 1991 and 19
92 on sandy-loam soil, to determine optimum row spacing and nitrogen level
for the maximum growth and yield of rice bean [Vigna umbellata (Thunb.) Ohw
i & Ohashi]. Closer spacing of 30 cm x 10 cm gave higher seed and stover yi
eld of 5.18 and 26.0 q/ha respectively. Similarly, the seed yield was the m
aximum (6.3 q/ha) with 40 kg N/ha, followed by 60 kg N/ha (6.0 q/ha). The s
tover yield was the highest at 60 kg N/ha (30.1 q/ha). The net return was t
he maximum in 30 cm x 10 cm spacing and 40 kg N/ha.
