Evaluation of irrigation schedule, irrigation layout, organic amendment and weed control for sesame (Sesamum indicum), based on economic indices

In a study, economic indices were computed from the experimental data obtai ned from the investigation carried out at Combatore during summer 1991, rai ny season (kharif) 1991 and summer 1992 to find out the influence of irriga tion schedule, layout, organic amendment and weed control on the performanc e of sesame (Sesamum indicum L,). Higher gross returns, net returns, benefi t :cost ratio and gross returns/day were realized when irrigation was sched uled at 0.45 IW: CPE ratio given through an irrigation layout of furrows (r idges), incorporated with 10 tonnes/ha of coconut fibre (coir) waste with a weed-control method of pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 0.75 k g/ha + 1 hand-weeding.
