Abstract
2,5-Dimethyl-9-hydroxy-4-(propen-2-yl)-dihydrofuro[3,2-g][1]benzopyran-7[H] -one 4 has been prepared from 7,8-dihydroxy4-methyl coumarin 1 by allylatio n, Claisen rearrangement and cyclisation, while benzofnro[3,2-g]-11-hydroxy -4-methylbenzopyran2[H]-one 9 has been prepared from 1 by condensing it wit h 2-bromocyclohexanone followed by cyclisation and dehydrogenation.
