Abstract
1-(chloromethyl)-4-fluoro-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane bis (tetrafluorobor ate) [Selectfluor(TM) F-TEDA-BF4 (TEDA = triethylenediamine)] in the presen ce of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid has been found to be a very effective r eagent system for the direct electrophilic fluorination of a wide variety o f aromatic compounds under mild reaction conditions to the corresponding fl uoroaromatics in good to excellent yields.
