Abstract
The anaerobic ammonium oxidation (Anammox) process is a promising nove l option for removing nitrogen from wastewater. In this study it was s hown that the Anammox process was inhibited reversibly by the presence of oxygen. Furthermore, aerobic nitrifiers were shown not to play an important role in the Anammox process.
