One hundred formulated shrimp samples were analysed for fungal contaminatio
n, of which sixty samples were found contaminated. The average moisture con
tent of feed samples were 19% and fungal number was 6 cfu/g of sample. The
member belonging to class Ascomycetes constituted 51.5%, Zygomycetes 37.0%
and Deuteromycetes 4.5%. Presence of fungi in imported shrimp feed indicate
s poor quality of pelleted feed.
