Abstract
A detector system for fast in vivo proton radiography on the proton gantry of the Paul Scherrer Institute was developed. The system, consisting of two scintillating fiber hodoscopes and a range telescope made of plastic scint illator tiles, is capable of detecting position and range of 10(6) protons/ s as single coincidence events. The spatial resolution achieved for the res idual-range images is approximate to 1mm and the density resolution is 0.3% for 200 protons/mm(2). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
