Electron excitation, transfer and ionization in collisions between alpha pa
rticles and lithium-like ions are investigated by means of the Basis Genera
tor Method (BGM), a specific coupled-channel approach to the time-dependent
Schrodinger equation (TDSE). The gist of the BGM is the representation of
the electronic wavefunction within a dynamically adapted finite model space
including the physically accessible part of the electronic continuum. Theo
retical results for total capture are in good agreement with recent experim
ental data.
