The application of recently developed spectroscopic instruments in laser pr
oduced plasmas with simultaneous high spectral and spatial resolution combi
ned with high luminosity discovered new types of X-ray spectra. These new t
ypes are characterised by the disappearance of the resonance lines and the
strong emission of dielectronic satellite spectra. Several types of transit
ions of highly charged ions are discovered which are unknown from usual sou
rces employed in atomic physics. New theoretical models are developed and s
uccessfully applied for the interpretation and for plasma diagnostics.
