Abstract
The cDNA of vacuolar proton-translocating inorganic pyrophosphatase was clo ned from pear fruit. It contained an open reading frame of 2,301 nucleotide s, coding for a polypeptide of 767 amino acids. The level of mRNA was very low in young fruit and increased with maturation, differing from the change s in the level of polypeptide.
