A production process was put forward for recovery of molybdenum from wastes
of nuclear fuel reprossessing and for subsequent preparation of Mo-100 tar
gets to be used for generating Mo-99 and Tc-99m. In this process molybdenum
is recovered from nitric acid solutions by sorption on ANKB-2 ampholyte an
d then purified by sublimation. The final form is molybdenum trioxide or me
tallic molybdenum. The degree of molybdenum recovery is >90%. Up to 3 Ci of
Mo-99 can be prepared by 24-h irradiation in a high-current cyclotrons of
1 g of molybdenum recovered from wastes of nuclear fuel reprocessing.
