Abstract
Recently the bonding of enzymes to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alka nethiols on gold surfaces has begun to receive attention as a method of con structing enzyme electrodes, This review highlights the features of SAMs wh ich are applicable to enzyme immobilisatiom and the different immobilisatio n methods that can be used for constructing enzyme electrodes. An emphasis is placed on the ability of each method to produce reproducible enzyme elec trodes and to give control over the molecular architecture of the sensor,, (C)1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
