An outbreak of salmonellosis caused by Salmonella Enteritidis phage type 21
occurred in humans and poultry in Tyrol (Austria) in 1995. Epidemiological
relationships between the isolates were investigated by macrorestriction a
nalysis, ribotyping, IS200 typing and plasmid analysis. Characterization of
the isolates revealed a clonal identity. This suggests that these isolates
are derived from one source.
