Tetraaqua(1,10-phenanthroline-N,N)-nickel(II) dinitrate monohydrate

The title compound, [Ni(C12H8N2)(H2O)(4)](NO3)(2).H2O, consists of tetraaqu a (1,10-phenanthroline)nickel(II) cations, nitrate anions and water molecul es. The Ni-II ion is coordinated in a distorted octahedral arrangement by t wo water molecules and two tertiary N atoms from one phenanthroline ligand in equatorial positions, and by two O atoms of water in axial positions. Th e Ni-O bond lengths range from 2.053 (2) to 2.105 (2) Angstrom and the two Ni-N bond lengths an 2.068 (2) and 2.070 (2) Angstrom, while the N1-Ni-N2 c helate angle is 80.83 (8)degrees. The complex forms a three-dimensional hyd rogen-bonded framework.
