Abstract
The structure of the title compound, [Pt(C5H12NO3S)Cl-3]. C12H24O6. 2H(2)O, was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 223 K. The metal com plex [PtCl3(S-metoH(2))] consists of square-planar Pt-II coordinated with o ne S-bonded protonated L-methionine sulfoxide (metoH(2)) and three chloro l igands. The ammonio group of the metoH(2) ligand forms three N-H ... O hydr ogen bonds to the crown ether 18-crown-6 [N ... O 2.81(2)-3.03 (3) Angstrom ]. The crystal structure consists of chains built up of these units connect ed by two water molecules via hydrogen bonds.
