This study analyses the distribution of a monogenean parasite, the Pseudoda
ctylogyrus anguillae, in the gills of European glass eels (Anguilla anguill
a). The distribution of the parasite is not casual; both in the postlarval
and adult stages, the parasite appears to have a predilection for certain s
ites. In the case of infestation by P, anguillae on its own, the parasite h
as shown to also occupy those sites which are preferred by the P, bini in c
ongeneric infestation.
