Abstract
Five malonyl cyclolanostanol glycosides, 23-O-acetyl-7,8-didehydroshengmano l 3-O-(2'-O-malonyl)-beta-D-xylopyranoside, 23-O-acetylshengmanol 3-O-(2'-O -malonyl)-beta-D-xylopyranoside, 2'-O-malonylcimicifugoside, 24-epi-24-O-ac etyl-7,8-didehydrohydroshengmanol 3-O-(2'-O-malonyl)-beta-D-xylopyranoside, and 2'-O-malonylcimiaceroside B, were isolated from the underground parts of Cimicifaga simplex WORMSK. (Ranunculaceae), together with two related cy clolanostanol glycosides, 23-O-acetyl-7,8-didehydroshengmanol 3-O-beta-D-xy lopyranoside, 24-O-acetyl-25-O-methyl-7,8-didehydrohydroshengmanol 3-O-beta -D-xylopyranoside. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectra l and chemical evidence.
