A note on the use of an integral sugar cane meal ration for kid fattening

Four crossbred (Nubian x Toggenburg) male kids from the same herd were used in a performance test of an integral diet prepared with 25% sugar cane mea l fed ad libitum. The trial was carried out from 90 days until 180 days of age. Kids were kept in individual pens with free access to water. Throughou t the period animals gained 118.8 g/day and consumed 0.87 kg daily as avera ge. The ration had a good acceptance and no digestive disorders were eviden t. Further studies with a larger number of animals and different formulatio ns, are recommended.
