With the growing concern over harmonics and their effects due to the increa
sing use of solid state switching devices in modem power systems, there is
an increasing interest in developing new and more efficient harmonic elimin
ation schemes. This paper presents a new scheme to mitigate the harmonies p
resent in the system. The method uses the put cancellation and injection ca
pabilities of transformers, along with the existing filter designs, to prod
uce an improved performance for elimination of unwanted harmonics and noise
. The robustness to time varying signals, noncharacteristic harmonics, and
high-power noise makes this method highly competitive. The performance of t
he proposed scheme is confirmed both by simulation on real power system har
monic data and laboratory scale experimentation.
