Abstract
In this paper the effects of harmonic distortion of the supply voltage and the power transmission efficiency eta on the maximum power transferred to a linear loan are examined. In order to quantify these effects, a power harm onic function Psi is defined. Ir allows calculating the characteristics of the load and the maximum power transfer (where lambda is a parameter that r elates the efficiency with the power transfer). The power function, power l osses and the power transfer are expressed in function of both lambda and t otal harmonic distortion of the supply voltage (U-THD) for the maximum powe r-transfer condition. Thus, the load is synthesized by a resistor in series with a set of L-C branches, which permits to generalize the well-known max imum power-transfer theorem Numerical simulation and example results are pr esented.
