T. Mikolajczyk et al., Effect of a stabiliser on changes in the rheological properties of cellulose carbamate spinning solutions during their storage, FIBRES TEXT, 7(2), 1999, pp. 46-48
The effect of urea used as stabiliser in various amounts on the stability o
f rheological parameters of cellulose carbamate solutions during their stor
age has been examined. It has been found that the addition of the stabilise
r brings about no changes in the rheological character of cellulose carbama
te spinning solutions. They remain non-Newtonian fluids thinned by shearing
without a flow limit, but the solutions containing the stabiliser become m
ore related to a Newtonian fluid. The additions of urea slows down the rate
of gelation processes. A spinning solution containing 10% of urea practica
lly retains its rheological properties for 48 h and one containing 20% of u
rea even for 70 h from the moment of its preparation.
