Gc. Delatorre et al., STRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION OF THE MONTMORILLONITE CLAY NANOMETRIC PARTICLES, Nanostructured materials, 9(1-8), 1997, pp. 335-338
In this work we characterize the clays of a place named ''Las Pulgas''
, in the Charo Canyon, Stare of Michoacan, Mexico. It is found that th
ese mineral species are mainly montmorillonite, cristobalite, tridimit
e and albite, including quartz. Montmorillonite is the most abundant c
lay in this region, and has a nanometric twinned small particle habit.
All this opens a potential technical application for this nanostructu
