After introducing the numerical relationship between color and current of a
solar cell, it is shown that by using thicker antireflecting coatings, it
is possible to fabricate different color silicon solar cells with very simi
lar current, only slightly below the one of the best coating. Representativ
e eases of surface structure, cell quality, and materials for the antirefle
cting layer are considered to explore the generality of the results for bot
h encapsulated and nonencapsulated solar cells. Experimental support to the
conclusion is also presented.
