Abstract
Reactions of palladium(II)/platinum(II) chlorides with sodium salts of pyri dine-2-thione (Na+C5H4NS-) or 1-hydroxypyridine-2-thione(Na+C5H4NOS-) yield products of composition, Pd(C5H4NS)(2) (1), Pd(C5H4NOS)(2) (2) and Pt(C5H4 NOS)(2) (3). Reactions of 1-3 with triphenyl- phosphine gave Pd(C5H4NS)(2)( PPh3)(2) (4), Pd(C5H4NOS)(2)(PPh3) (5) and Pt(C5H4NOS)(2)(PPh3)(2) (6). All the complexes have been characterised by analytical data, IR, far IR and m ultinuclear (H-1, C-13, P-31) NMR Spectroscopy It is observed that whereas 1 and 2 show one type of isomer, 3 exhibits cis-trans isomerism in the rati o of 1:2.
