Abstract
Cycloaddition reactions of 1-phenyl-3-oxidopyridinium betaine with a number of 1,2-disubstituted olefins bearing electron-withdrawing groups have been investigated. The regio- and stereochemical preferences of the cycloadditi on processes have been studied. A Michael addition product derived from a c ycloadduct isalso obtained in addition to the cycloadducts.
