Abstract
The isolation and characterization of two new arylnaphthalide lignans, jusm icranthin 1 and justirumalin 5, in addition to helioxanthin 4, taiwanin C 8 , retrohelioxanthin 9 and justicidin A 10 from J. neesii, have been reporte d. Structure of 1 has been deduced as its ethyl and methyl ethers. Compound 1 is the first member,of angularly fused arylnaphthalide lignans having hy droxyl/alkoxyl group on the lactone ring. Retrohelioxanthin 9 has been isol ated as a natural product for the first time.
