The magnetic properties of nanostructured NiAl (n-NiAl) were investiga
ted at temperatures from 1.4 to 300K. The results indicated that as co
mpared to polycrystalline NiAl, the magnetism of n- NiAl enhanced subs
tantially, and became even stronger for the one with smaller grain siz
e. At all the temperatures investigated n-NiAl exhibited paramagnetic
behavior; no ferro- or antiferromagnetic transformation was observed.
However, at low temperatures mictomagnetic and/or spin glass behavior
(with T-f similar to 27K) was observed for the n-NiAl with both smalle
r mean grain size (4.7nm) and microstrain (epsilon<0.01%). (C) 1997 Ac
