Abstract
The genus Attidops is resurrected from Ballus based on its strongly excavat e cymbial tip, transverse embolar groove, flatter carapace with extended po stocular area, and single retromarginal Cheliceral tooth, which indicate a closer relationship to the genus Admestina. The type species, Ballus youngi i Peckham & Peckham 1888, again transferred, becomes Attidops youngi (Peckh am & Peckham). Two new species, Attidops nickersoni (sister species to A. y oungi) and Attidops cutleri, are described. Icius cinctipes Banks 1900, pre viously transferred to Ballus, becomes a new combination, Attidops cinctipe s (Banks). Lectotypes and paralectotypes are designated for Ballus youngii and Icius cinctipes. The genus is recorded from south-central Canada, easte rn U.S. and eastern Mexico.
