Bc. Yang et al., The order of calcium and phosphate ion deposition on chemically treated titanium surfaces soaked in aqueous solution, J BIOMED MR, 47(2), 1999, pp. 213-219
The mechanism of apatite deposition on chemically treated Ti surfaces still
is being studied. In this study, simulated body fluid, calcium aqueous sol
ution, phosphate aqueous solution, and accelerated calcification solution a
re used as media to investigate the order of calcium and phosphate ion depo
sition on chemically treated Ti surfaces. The results of inductively couple
d plasma spectra, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray
analysis show that calcium deposition is the prerequisite for phosphate io
n deposition. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
